If you thought cows were happy standing in the middle of a field, whatever the weather, you’d be wrong. Just as people need shade to cool off on a sunny day, so do our bovine friends.
Grazing the lush summer grass is all well and good but spending too long in the blazing sunshine can be bad for a cow’s health.
Pipecraft’s cow shade project
Prior to commissioning Pipecraft, our client was having difficulty finding a tube manipulation company that was happy to advise on suitable materials and tube diameters for the roofed structure.
We were trusted to take on this project because of our tube manipulation and metal fabrication expertise. Pipecraft provided all the rolled mild steel tubular structures that together make up this cow shade.
The large, curved tube on one end of the structure is designed so that the animals can only enter from one end – the radii segments were rolled as per client specifications.
Both the human and bovine clients were very pleased with the finished product. In fact, the cows were quick to ‘moo’ve under the shaded shelter as soon as it was installed!
The farm owner now intends to reorder similar frames in the future, as part of an ongoing project.
