Pipecraft has collaborated with designers to create exclusive table bases for Bar Lina, an intimate aperitivo bar hidden below one of London’s oldest Italian delis, Lina Stores.
Their style is heavily influenced by Italian furniture design from the 1970s. In particular, the table bases are inspired by classic tubular chrome designs by Giotto Stoppino and Gastone Rinaldi.
Located on Brewer Street, Bar Lina is Lina Stores’ first standalone cocktail bar. The marble bar shelves are filled with ingredients that are either made in-house or sourced directly from Italy.
Vibrant bar scene
A reflection of the vibrant bar scene in both Soho and Italy, the candle-lit aperitivo bar, with its monochrome and dark red interior, has breathed new life into the original delicatessen, which dates back to 1944.
Lina Stores has been selling authentic Italian produce and handmade fresh pasta and panini from its delicatessen on Brewer Street for generations.
Now, Bar Lina has taken over the shop’s former fresh pasta kitchen. Clientele make their way downstairs, past shelves packed with all kinds of Italian goodies, to reach the 28-seater bar with its atmospheric lighting.
Like the interior design, the drinks menu also references Italian classics, with cocktails such as Syracuse Martinis prepared with Sicilian tomato, basil gimlets and negronis, alongside spritzers and Italian wines from independent growers.
Collaborative design project
Pipecraft worked with designers at White Rabbit Projects to make the table bases for Bar Lina.
We liaised extensively regarding the final design formats, before shaping the metal bases and adding them to the marble table tops that match the bar shelves.
The project required a great deal of hard work from both parties to ensure Bar Lina was ready for its grand opening in October 2023.
The contract showcased our skills in metal tube fabrication and tube manipulation, as well as utilising our metal polishing services for the table pedestals.
