Contracted by the Lewes & Eastbourne Council to supply and fit the new stainless-steel handrails at a well-loved nature reserve; the Railwayland Wildlife Trust project enabled Pipecraft to showcase some of their many abilities including tube rolling, fabrication and metal polishing, etc.
Due to the constantly changing gradient of both the land and the radii; the inner and outer handrails had to be rolled in many segments, with changing radii and spiral formation, to accord to the existing pathway, while creating a visually appealing aesthetic.
The segments were then joined together with internal spigots, before being welded to the handrail retaining brackets onsite. The Tig welded joints were then completely polished out and the handrail was radial satin polished to create the perfect finish.

Lewes council representative Christopher Bibb was very pleased with the result, commenting on the project: ‘Yes, it’s turned out very well and the installation has gone much smoother than anticipated. Thanks to you and your team for putting a lot of thought and effort into making it a success.”
